OVERVIEW
The purchase of Chanel products at a special staff discount is a privilege for employees to enable them to personally enjoy the design and quality of Chanel products.
Invitation to attend the Chanel Staff Sale is a discretionary benefit extended to Chanel employees exclusively in accordance with the succeeding eligibility criteria. Invitation is not extended to family and friends.
From time to time, at the discretion of the Managing Director and / or General Manager Organisation Development & Human Resources, eligibility to participate at the Fragrance & Beauty staff sale may be extended to Chanel Retail Partners.
The below policy applies to both employees of Chanel and its Retail Partner.
Eligibility
Chanel Australia and New Zealand employees who are currently employed under a casual contract, permanent contract and fixed term contract of 1 year or above will be provided with the opportunity to participate in the Staff Sale. Employees cannot be serving notice before or during the commencement of the Staff Sale; if this occurs, the employee will not be eligible to participate in the event.
Please note eligibility will be amended from time to time and final invitation is at the discretion of the Managing Director and / or General Manager Organisation Development & Human Resources. Please note that this may include the withdrawal of an invitation to attend the sale without cause.
Merchandise
The Chanel products available for Staff Sale are selected in accordance with the product / category strategy, product availability and management discretion. The Company will communicate the quotas prior to the date of the Staff Sale. Employees must take personal responsibility to understand the quotas. Any purchases made in excess of the communicated quota(s) will result in cancellation of the order in its entirety and a cash refund to the payment method used to transact the order originally. There will be no exceptions to this.
Employees cannot re-allocate or transfer their quotas to other employees and must not share their access credentials with any third party internally or externally. All products purchased at the Staff Sale are strictly for private use and gift giving only by the employee. Staff Sale orders must be made in the name of employee, delivered to the employee's home address in accordance with the Company's record and be paid in the name of the employee. The resale of Chanel products, with or without profit, whether by the employee directly or by their family and friends, is strictly prohibited. There are no exchanges or refunds, with the exception of damaged or faulty products, which will be exchanged for the same product.
The sale of our products via the so-called grey or parallel market (in unauthorised and / or inappropriate outlets not directly supplied by the Company or by its authorised distributors) is against the Company's selective distribution policy; the appearance of Company branded products (including old or damaged stock) in non-authorised, inappropriate and opportunistic outlets (e.g., street markets) is clearly damaging to our brand image. Employees must not enter into any conduct which may be seen as attempting to on-sell their purchases.
Accordingly, and as with counterfeits, the Company will not tolerate or excuse any action from an employee that aids, abets or otherwise facilitates the availability and appearance of its products on the grey or parallel market. This includes the appearance of photos of products purchased on these websites.
Employees are reminded that purchases made at the Staff Sale should not be posted on social media in line with the Social Media policy. Similarly, details of the staff sale should not be shared externally.
The Company may, at its discretion, cancel orders from the Staff Sale when circumstances are warranted and, in such circumstances, a refund will be arranged.
In participating in the Staff Sale, the employee understands and agrees to this Policy, the Chanel Resale Policy, the Chanel Code of Conduct, the terms and conditions of the sale and other prevailing policies associated with the Staff Sale. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Should you wish to clarify the interpretation or meaning of this policy, please refer to your Manager or a member of the Organisation Development & Human Resources team.
The Managing Director and / or General Manager Organisational Development & Human Resources will make any necessary determinations regarding the meaning and content of this document and it may be varied from time to time. The Managing Director's decision will be final.
